Valve Is Slowly Abandoning Team Fortress 2

Because they are busy with a major new project, it seems that Valve is slowly but surely leaving Team Fortress 2 behind.

As we all know, Valve is cooking up a brand new Half-Life title. Since a lot of Valve’s great employees left the company over the last couple of years, I bet they pulled people from all over the place to do work on Alyx. Even though it is a VR title, it’s still the newest entry in the cult-classic Half-Life franchise. That task was a huge undertaking for them, and now we see just how big it was.

Valve is ditching Team Fortress 2. They haven’t abandoned it completely, but the Valve News Network did an interview with a Valve employee. This employee then stated that “hardly anyone is working on the game”.

Does this surprise anyone? Not really. After all, TF 2 is 12 years old. This free-to-play shooter got a lot of updates over the years. However, these past few years weren’t that exciting for TF 2 players. Now we see why. Almost no one is working on this title anymore. From what we heard, they still make money from TF 2. So, it won’t be shut down anytime soon. There’s also a chance that Valve gets an idea for a new update in the future. A huge one at that. You never know, but for now, everyone over at that company is centered around Alyx.

The community of the game is alive and well if anything. You can check out the “Creators” project to see what the players plan to do with this cartoony shooter. The devs may abandon their games but the loyal community will stay with it forever!
