NieR: Automata Not Nominated For Game Of The Year In The Game Awards

It’s that time of year ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to decide what the best games of the year were. Naturally, all fans have their favorites, but some always stick out more than others, and only those can be nominated for the “best of” awards or the greatest of all: Game of the Year. The first volley of nominations across the world started today via The Game Awards, which will air on December 7th. But, when fans looked at the nominees for Game of the Year, there was a big leave out in the eyes of many: NieR: Automata.

The action and role-playing game by Platinum Games was one of the most-loved games of the year. In fact, it sold so well that the head of Platinum Games himself said that this game saved their studio. And yet, despite all the praise, The Game Awards didn’t award them with a nomination. Now, before you think that the other games in the category don’t deserve the award, it’s kind of the opposite. Four of the five nominees were considered “correct’, the other? PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

Needless to say, players aren’t happy, because in their eyes, PUBG isn’t a full game, and they’re right, as the title is currently on Steam Early Access. So, why did they give it to them instead of a complete game like NieR: Automata? We can’t say.

You should take heart though NieR fans, the game wasn’t completely snubbed from the awards. It is nominated for “Best RPG” as well as “Best Narrative, and “Best Score/Music”. Besides, the real important thing is that a sequel is apparently already in the works, so who needs an award when you get the best reward of all? A greenlight to keep the series going.
