Kingdom Come: Deliverance Developer States There’s No Propaganda In The Game

The world has become much more sensitive than it used to be. Most of it is for the better, as we fight for equality and diversity in all that we do, even up to the highest levels of government. However, this sensitivity can sometimes make people lash out for the wrong reasons. For example, the game Kingdom Come: Deliverance came under fire when it launched because it lacked diversity in its characters. This led many to think that the game was somehow a propaganda machine for white supremacy or something of the like.

Warhorse Studios’ Daniel Vávra how is having none of that. As he notes that his team is very different in the views that would allow for such a thing to happen.

“So it has no propaganda because there are more people with the opposite political views to what I have in the same office,” Vávra said via GamesIndustry.biz. “We didn’t kill each other, we’re able to cooperate so it’s ridiculous.”

What’s more, he notes that not only was the game written to feature historical accuracy in many ways, which was another controversy that befell it, the game wasn’t just written by him, it was written by a bunch of other people as well.

“They wrote the game, like 90 per cent of it – yeah, I wrote the heart of the main story, but 90 per cent of the actual writing is done by someone else. So even if I wanted, it would be quite tough to force all those people to do something against their will. It doesn’t work like that. We have an open, flat-like structure to company so anybody can tell me to f*** off, basically.”

While this likely won’t quell the fires of controversy for Kingdom Come: Deliverance, it does help bring some context to light, and sometimes that can a boon for matters such as these.
