Is PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Heading To PS4?

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was one of the biggest games of last year. It helped bring the Battle Royale genre to the limelight in a way that was meaningful, and it got legions of players crying out “winner winner, chicken dinner”. And while it was only on PC for much of last year, it later came out on Xbox One via early access. But ever since launch, the PS4 crowd has been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the game on their system, and now, it seems to actually be happening.

A Twitter user named “Nibel” discovered a listing for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on the Korean Ratings Board, which would seem to indicate that the game is indeed coming to PS4. And, with things like Tokyo Game Show and the PlayStation Experience coming up, it’s possible that the game could be revealed for the system there.

Of course, until this is officially confirmed, all rumors and leaks like these should be considered just that.

That being said, Chang Han Kim, who is the CEO of PUBG Corp, has noted in the past that he wants to put PUBG on every single console on there. The only restriction was the deal that they made with Microsoft to ensure that they had first crack on it. There was also the issue of having to deal with the different Early Access programs, of which PS4’s was a bit more complicated:

“Early Access on Steam and Game Preview on Xbox One are like pre-release, so they don’t have a restriction on quality. However, PS is very strict about this. There were cases where a game took 6 months more to launch even when it was already completed. We are still in the stage of learning the console development environment and console gamers’ taste. We need to think about other platforms after evaluating and completing the Xbox One version first.”

The Xbox One version is done, so that means the potential for the PS4 version is alive, well, and kicking. And possibly, will be revealed soon.
