343 Industries Reaffirms The Work Going Into Halo Infinite

When it comes to certain video game franchises, the expectations of the fans are very high, and for good reason. After all, if they love a game with that amount of passion, it means that the dev team did an amazing job with the game, and thus, they want that same passion brought to bear for the next game. The Halo franchise is one that has suffered some ups and downs over the years, and due to that, the upcoming Halo Infinite is under a lot of scrutiny.

Why? Well, it all has to do with Halo 5: Guardians. The game set up a dramatic story based on its previews and teasers, and then completely scrapped that story to tell an oddly generic one. And fans weren’t happy as a result despite the high sales of the game. 343 Industries fully understands the displeasure, and they’re again promising that this won’t happen again.

Halo: Infinite

During a live stream, 343 Industries Justin Robey had this to say:

Halo is one of those franchises that we have a lot of players who are probably going to come back when we release Halo Infinite and we just want to make sure as it gets in there that people aren’t lost, which is one of the things that people complain about with Halo 5. So it’s making sure there’s enough meat and awesome for the fans and that at the same time it’s approachable for people who are coming back in.”

A very admirable goal, for while Halo is definitely one of the best first-person shooters out there, it’s also one that is amazing at world-building, and that should be on full display in any title, and Guardians lost site of that.

Sadly, there is no release date as of yet for Halo Infinite, but when it does release, it’ll likely be what fans are hoping for.
