Injustice 2 Was In Arrow This Week

So, the DC Comics universe is a very far-reaching thing. On one hand, there are comics about the numerous characters. There are also cartoons, live-action TV shows, movies (with Justice League now out in theaters), and of course, video games. It’s not uncommon for these various medias to crossover in subtle ways, or have elements of the shows appear in video games. But in a very fun twist this week, one of the TV shows decided to bring a DC Comics video game in for a crossover. Injustice 2.

You see, in Arrow this week, there was a brief scene of characters Felicity Smoak and Oliver Queen’s son William playing a video game. If you paid close attention though, you’ll notice that the game was indeed Injustice 2. Now, they were careful enough to not be TOO overt, as the characters were the same color type and so it was a bit hard to make out, but it was indeed the game. In fact, we can now tell that the characters played were Blue Beetle and Sub-Zero.

So, why does this matter? Well, mainly because it’s funny that they decided to plug that into the game. They certainly didn’t have to. In fact, they could’ve just shown that the two were playing video games and then they stopped when Oliver walked in. But no! they decided to show the video game itself, and we’re grateful. Now, there is a fanboy issue here though…

Why show Blue Beetle? While Sub-Zero can be written off (as he’s a Mortal Kombat character), Blue Beetle is a DC Comics character. What’s more, Arrow has been teasing an appearance by the character for years now. To be fair, it’s not Jaime Reyes like the character in the game is, but rather Ted Kord, who has been name-dropped numerous times.

All in all though, this was a fun little crossover, one we hope we see again.
