Sea Of Thieves Has Stopped New Players From Joining

There’s a danger to making a game that relies heavily on multiplayer via online servers. Mainly, if the servers aren’t built to handle great numbers, it will crash. This is exactly what’s happening to Sea Of Thieves right now. The game launched yesterday, and apparently, there are so many people trying to play it that the servers can’t handle it, at all. And to make it even more interesting, Rare has actually stopped new players from joining the game to ensure that the servers aren’t overloaded anymore.

“In order to resolve the issues players are seeing with the servers, we will be temporarily suspending new players joining the game. We’ll get everyone back in and playing as quickly as we can,” the official Sea of Thieves Twitter account noted.

As of today, it doesn’t appear as though the issues have been fixed, and the team even sent out another tweet asking for patience in regards to the fixes that are being made. Stating that the team is working 24/7 to try and get this settled.

“For those playing and those joining we are continuing to work on improvements to the game in order to ensure the playing experience will be optimal. Please be patient as we are working on updates.”

So, yeah, not exactly the launch experience that Rare and players wanted, but hey, at least they’re working on making it better, right?

For those who don’t know, Sea of Thieves is a pirate title in which you can sail the seas in order to become a true pirate legend. But, the true fun is forming a crew with other players around the world and going on adventures. You can search for buried treasure, loot and battle other ships, or fight monsters of all kinds.

Despite its issues, Sea of Thieves is available now on Xbox One and PC.
