Cyberpunk 2077 Won’t Be At The Game Awards

Since its true unveil at E3 2018, Cyberpunk 2077 has been one of the most talked about and hyped games out there. The massive RPG from CD Projekt Red is aiming to be one of the best and most detailed RPGs ever made, and with each new interview and gameplay tease we get, we’re seeing more and more of the layers that the game will have, it’s very exciting. However, if you are expecting a gameplay reveal or a new trailer at The Game Awards this Thursday, sadly, you’re out of luck.

For though The Game Awards has been a place that has done many big announcements or update reveals, the Community Lead for the game, Marcin Momot has stated on Twitter that their game won’t be a part of the festivities:

We’re looking forward to seeing all the reveals and announcements during this year’s @thegameawards, however we’re not going to be showing anything there ourselves. We’ll share more details about @cyberpunkgame when we’re ready.

Cyberpunk 2077

While this will be disappointing to some, it actually follows the partner that the team have been doing about Cyberpunk 2077. Think about it, the game has been known about for years, and yet, it took until 2018 for it to receive a first trailer. So if they’re not ready for the next one in some way, why would they show it? This also doesn’t mean we won’t be getting news of it soon enough from the team, they’re just not going to show anything at the awards ceremony.

With that said, it now shines an even bigger light on The Game Awards. For during the past week, other developers have noted that they won’t be showing off games at the show. Like Rocksteady denying a Superman title being unveiled there. With 10 games promising to be unveiled there, and many more getting “updates”, you almost have to wonder what’s going to be shown. We’ll find out on the 6th.
