Metal Gear Survive Tops Digital Sales in Japan

The sales charts that were release a couple of weeks ago have revealed some rather interesting statistics. Metal Gear Survive has not been without controversy since it’s release, especially as far as microtransactions are concerned. Despite this, it has managed to dethrone Monster Hunter World in digital sales in Japan.

As far as retail goes, the latest entry from Konami failed to make any kind of an impression, especially when compared to titles such as Monster Hunter World. Yet digital sales has seen Survive knock the Capcom effort off the top for the first time in four weeks that have seen MH dominate the charts.

Meanwhile, Girl Und Panzer Dream Tank Match has been performing well, sitting in third place after an impressive showing at retail also. NieR: Automata made its own mark too, courtesy of the half price discount put in place to commemorate the first anniversary of the title.

Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal along with the other mentioned titles makes up the top five in said charts. One omission from the top five was Secret of Mana, which dropped out in its second week, though it did top the charts with PS Vita games.

The charts are as follows:

  1. Metal Gear Survive
  2. Monster Hunter World
  3. Girl Und Panzer Dream Tank Match
  4. NieR: Automata
  5. Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal
  6. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst
