PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Beats Dota 2 in Concurrent Users

The immensely popular PlayUnknown’s Battlegrounds has without a doubt taken the gaming world by storm since it released. It has hit a number of milestones and records over on Steam already, and has just broken another.

PUBG surpassed 800,000 concurrent players, becoming only the third game of all time to ever do so on Steam. This follows on from the milestone reached a couple of weeks ago, which saw the game hit 600,000 concurrent players. In fact, such is PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ popularity that it actually managed to edge out Dota 2 at one point, the game that holds the crown of the Steam charts. At this particular time, Dota 2 had 30,000 less players than PUBG.

This has been a remarkable achievement for the game, considering that Steam is a platform by Valve, and Dota 2 is Valve’s biggest game. Not only that, but Dota 2 is also free to play, whilst PUBG costs $29.99. PUBG is also a part of Early Access, whilst Dota 2 is a finished and established product.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has risen to unprecedented and unexpected fame as of late, and is now available in Early Access on PC, whilst the game will also be making it’s console debut on Xbox One and Xbox One X in the future.
