PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Has Hit 3 Million Concurrent Players

Just how popular is a game? Is it something that can only be measured in sales? In reviews? Or many, in how much it’s played? Well, for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, it has 2/3 on lock, and you could argue that the 2/3 it’s got is the most important of the three. For since its release earlier in 2017, the game has amassed over 30 million in sales, and that’s between the PC version and the Xbox One version. But now, it’s broken another gaming record in terms of how many people have played it at one time.

As noted on Steam, the game has officially broken the 3 million concurrent players milestone. A milestone that at one time seemed ludicrous to think about, or even picture for the biggest of AAA titles. In fact, on Steam, the game that held the record for years was DOTA 2, but even then, the game was only able to reach 1.2 million concurrent players at one time. So PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is well on its way to tripling that figure.

As you’ll see in the stat sheet above, the game has also been played in amazing 1 billion hours in just the last 30 days! It’d be interesting to see just how much has been played since the game was launched on Steam. Another day perhaps.

But still, this is an amazing achievement, especially for a title that has spent much of its life on Steam Early Access. The game only recently got a full release on Steam, and is still on the preview program for Xbox One. So for it to reach this milestone shows not just how much people are liking the game, but also, that they’re telling their friends to get in on the action so that they can get in on it together.

So, will the game reach 4 million concurrent players? We don’t see why not.
