PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS Invitational Heading to Gamescom

Gamescom 2017 will play host to an invitational for PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS, after the partnership between PUBG and ESL was announced today. This will take place in Cologne, Germany on August 23 – 26, 2017, where 80 of the world’s best players will compete in the first LAN event for the game.

Chang Han Kim, VP and Executive Producer at Bluehole Inc, has stated that the success of the game is thanks to its passionate community: “From very early on we knew that the success of PUBG was reliant on the passion of its community. We want to celebrate this by inviting eighty of the top players from around the world to compete in the first offline invitational. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see how quickly our community has grown, and can’t wait to hear about everyone’s experience this summer.”

The PUBG Invitational at Gamescom will feature Solo mode, Duo mode, Duo FPP mode and Squad mode, which will be spread across the four days, with the winner being determined by the best score from three games.

Bluehole Inc will also give players the chance to by vanity items in PUBG from August 3rd, with the company selecting a charity for proceeds to be donated to. For the Invitational winners, the tournament prize pool will have a total value of $350,000.
