PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Will Be 30 FPS On Xbox One X

So, it appears there’s been some confusion in regards to how well the popular PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will run on the Xbox One family of systems. For you see, the game is set to arrive on Xbox One preview on December 12th. But, with the arrival of the Xbox One X last year, and it having the potential to have much higher resolution and processing speeds, players have wondered how many frames per second the game would run on the higher-end system.

Well, the creator of the game, Brendan Greene, seems to have flip-flopped on the issue. For originally, he noted that the Xbox One X would run at 60 FPS, while the other Xbox One systems would be 30 FPS more than likely. However, after word of this spread, he went to Twitter to clarify:

It’s likely that the game was originally meant to run at 60 FPS, but things might have occurred to prevent that. It’s honestly hard to say. Also likely is that the team could bump up the FPS once the game is on the system in its base form (as it’s coming to the Xbox version of Steam Early Access) and they make sure it works on the base levels before upgrading it. It’s hard to say how this will all play out.

Sadly, this will be another issue that will weigh on the minds of developer Bluehole, a growing list that includes fixing bugs, balancing gameplay, optimizing online play, and more importantly, launching the main game itself. Hopefully, they’ll be able to get all of this done.
