Rage 2 Story and Gameplay Details Given, Release Window Is Spring 2019

Last week, a major leak from Wal-Mart seemed to indicate that a lot of big video games were going to be coming out this year, and this included some titles that hadn’t been announced yet. One of the most surprising titles on the list was Rage 2, which more than likely would’ve been unveiled at E3 2018 had it not been leaked. Yesterday, Bethesda released its “reveal” trailer, showing a very different side of the Rage universe. Today, they delved deeper into what the game will be like.

First off, the game is being defined as a “shooterverse”. What does that mean? Well, it’ll be an open-world shooter with apparently a lot of content. Which you can see in part via the all-new gameplay trailer. And what’s obvious to see is that not only will there be a lot of people and creatures for you to fight, but also, a lot of different areas to go to.

As for story, a press release gave us some details on that:

“An asteroid has annihilated 80% of the earth’s population, and humanity’s numbers are dwindling. Ruthless and bloodthirsty gangs roam the open roads and the tyrannical Authority seek to rule with an iron fist. As Walker, the last Ranger of the wasteland and a threat to their power, you have been robbed of your home and left for dead. Now you’ll have to rage for justice and freedom.”

The press release gave us also more details on the gameplay, including the return of vehicles:

“With ludicrous vehicle combat, super-powered first-person mayhem, and an open world full of emergent madness, you will tear across an unforgiving wasteland battling sadistic gangs to find the tools and tech needed to crush the oppressive rule of The Authority once and for all.”

However, the biggest surprise for Rage 2 might just be its release date, as the game is set to arrive in Spring 2019. Which means it’s about a year away. But don’t think you won’t see it for a while, for Bethesda said they’ll show off more at their E3 showcase.
