Sea of Thieves Stress Test Begins This Week

In order to improve on something, sometimes you have to fail to find out how to succeed. This is something that Rare are looking to do with an upcoming Sea of Thieves stress test.

This is a result of connection issues that affected the recent closed beta, and therefore they will be opening up the test on Friday, February 16th, ending on Sunday, February 18th. This test will be open to anyone who has been signed up to the Insider Program, as well as to those who took part in the closed beta test.

Executive producer Joe Neate states that they are looking to test their servers with this practice. With a test such as this, players should expect there to be a number of issues going on, which will range from bugs with in-game shops to not being able to connect to games.
Neate explains:

“If there were times where you couldn’t start the game, or sell items at outposts, this was where the biggest bottleneck of data was seen, and it’s where our areas of focus are now. The goal of this is to test a lot of the work we’ve done since the Closed Beta, and to try and hit a higher concurrent players number than we’ve ever seen before.”

Sea of Thieves will release on March 20th on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
