Cross-Play Probably Isn’t Coming To Warframe

Warframe is one of the biggest games in the market right now, and the question is, will it ever get cross-play?

Warframe

Ever since Warframe came out, it got a lot of attention because of what it was trying to be. A space ninja simulator with crazy guns, crazy melee weapons, a lot of content (which involves insane amounts of grinding too), and an incredible movement system. The game showed a lot of promise, and it was a gem-in-the-rough. Now? Warframe is one of the biggest games out there, even if Fortnite and PUBG exist, the fans of this game stuck to their space ninja adventures and avoided any battle royale shenanigans.

Now, while this game continuously surprises us with brilliant new content expansions that come with crazy new additions, it seems that cross-platform isn’t an option right now.

SMITE recently announced that it was getting full cross-platform. Some time ago Rocket League also got full cross-platform. This is the future of gaming, allowing players to play together no matter what gaming platform or console their using. But, that also comes with a lot of problems, and they are currently something too great for Digital Extremes to deal with.

A lot of content is coming in 2019, so the devs don’t won’t to think about something like cross-platform play at this moment.

When you have cross-play, the game version on each platform and console has to be the same. With a game like this, that’s constantly changing and getting new updates and expansions, it would be impossible to put out all of that content on the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch at the same time. The devs talked about this on their stream, skip to the 00: 50-minute mark to see what they had to say about all of this.

But, no one knows what the future holds. Mabye something like cross-play arrives later down the line.
