What Is The Fate Of Destiny 2’s Future DLC?

It seems that Destiny 2 just can’t catch a break. Or maybe, it’s more accurate to say that the team behind the game never learn their lessons. For when the game was announced, it was very hyped, it was, in fact, one of the most hyped games to come out in 2017. What’s more, given the way that the original Destiny ended (which was on a good note for the record), many felt that the sequel would exceed all expectations. It didn’t, not in many ways. And then, Curse of Osiris happened.

This expansion was meant to add new content not just via a new story, but by adding to what the player can do after it, including new Nightfall missions, raids, etc. But, nearly the moment it was released, players realized that the content was locked to any who didn’t have the DLC. While this is standard for the expansion content itself (like the story content), some of the activities that were accessible to ALL players were now looked, and new free features were locked behind it as well.

Players rioted, and Bungie eventually yielded and lifted many of the restrictions made by the DLC. They also promised to make sure something like this didn’t happen again.

But, that begs the question, what is the future of Destiny 2’s DLC? Well, even if the content wasn’t locked, Curse of Osiris wasn’t the best expansion ever. The content was given middling reviews, so first and foremost, Bungie needs to step up their game. After all, a lot of players are finding it difficult to continue playing the game in the state it’s in right now, and this DLC didn’t help with that. Bungie needs to make a DLC pack like what the Fallen King was for the original, or the Rise of Iron expansion.

If Destiny 2 is going to be known as more than just a simple “decent” sequel, the DLC has to deliver, and it needs to happen soon.
