Nintendo Switch Has Sold 4.8 Million Units In 10 Months In US

When the Wii U was launched, and then failed to do anything significant sales wise, many people (MANY PEOPLE) thought that Nintendo was doomed outright. In fact, many thought they should got the route of SEGA and just make software from now on. But instead, they didn’t give up, and rumors about the NX were beginning to form. Soon, they revealed that their next console was going to be the Nintendo Switch, and did both a small commercial and major event to unveil it.

Little did we know then that the Nintendo Switch would become a cultural phenomenon all its own. And since its launch in March of last year, the system has been flying off the shelves and making a major name for itself. And it seems like every month or so a new record or stat proves just how enduring the console is. Well, in a press release from Nintendo, the Switch has been revealed to have broken the all-time record for the fastest-selling home console in the US.

For according to Nintendo, the console has sold 4.8 million units in the first ten months of its release. That’s a record. Interestingly enough, the previous record holder was the Nintendo Wii, and it sold 4 million units in its first ten months, which shows that the Switch is a pretty good distance ahead of its famed predecessor. The question now is, how much will it sell in 2018?

It should also be noted that these sales were affected by the shortages of the Nintendo Switch that were happening not just in the US, but in the world at large. Nintendo has been working hard to make even more to supply the demand, but they are struggling. Imagine how much it would be selling if the demand could be met? Let’s hope that happens this year.
