All Development On Dirty Bomb Has Stopped

Developer Splash Damage has stopped all development on Dirty Bomb as the game isn’t doing all too well right now.

We hate it when fun little titles like this get shut down because they don’t make enough money. It’s hard to make it in the video game industry for specific genres today. For example, when it comes to shooters, you’re always going to have Overwatch, Fortnite, and all the Call of Duty and Battlefield games as the top dogs. So, who’s going to play these hybrid titles which experiment a lot when you have those games available to you?

Splash Damage, the devs behind the game, said that they can’t financially justify working on this game anymore. This is extremely disappointing, as Dirty Bomb was one one of more enjoyable team-oriented shooters out there. It was also free2play, with a fair business model, so where did it all go wrong? It received a fair bit of traction when it entered open beta, but that was way back in 2015. The developers weren’t able to turn Dirty Bomb into a blockbuster success as they wanted to, but hey, at least the game won’t be shut down for the time being.

The official servers will remain open as long as there are people playing the game. This is an excellent decision, as maybe sometime down the line more people pick up the game. You never know, and we want to remain optimistic as it would be a shame to see another cool shooter like go.
