Battlefield V’s Overture Have Been Delayed

EA and DICE had a very specific plan for Battlefield V upon release. They would make sure that the main content was functional and doing well, and then, they would add even more content via story chapters. The first one, called Overture, would focus on a Panzer Tank crew, and would bring new maps into the mix. But now, EA and DICE have revealed that this content has been delayed. Why did they delay it? Well, they gave many explanations for doing so.

First, they found a bug, and they don’t want to launch the update with it:

“The team has discovered an issue with the Battlefield V Chapter 1: Overture update,” the studio tweeted. “Rather than create issues in the game, we’re holding the update for the time being. We don’t anticipate a long delay and we’ll be back with more news [on December 4] or as soon as we have it.”

To further expand upon this, their community lead Dan Mitre went to Twitter to explain in more detail what happened:

“As we were preparing the final checks in releasing our next game update Chapter 1: Overture…we’ve encountered a couple of issues as we implement some of the new improvements to the game and servers,” he said, in relation to the delay.

Knowing that, we’re putting more time in testing the build and will be pushing back deployment until we can ensure the update is solid. We know a lot of you are excited for this content, and we’re excited to get it to you, but only once we can ensure the experience is great.”

While this most certainly is a downer for fans who were looking forward to that update, it’s good to see that EA and DICE value stability over just getting things out. For that type of thinking has hurt them in the past.
