Civilization VI: Rise And Fall Details The Mapuche Tribe

Civilization VI was already a masterpiece of a game, as stated by both fans and critics alike. The game brought a new engine to the mix that brought the world and its people to life in gorgeous ways. It also added layers upon layers of new gameplay mechanics. All the while, it kept what made Civilization such a beloved franchise. And now, it’s getting ready for its first official expansion via Civilization VI: Rise And Fall, where many new nations are getting revealed. Including the Mapuche tribe from Chile.

The nation will be led by Lautaro, the nations first official general, and one that led the fight against the Spanish when they came to their lands. As for the tribe, they have a special ability where units trained in a city with a governor (another new feature in Civilization VI: Rise And Fall) will receive more experience in battle, they’ll also receive special bonuses in a Golden Age situation.

Their special improvement can allow bonuses, culture, and tourism (once technology allows it) based on the tiles appeal that you are on. Their special units is a Raider Calvary unit. This unit will get a special combat bonus if they battle close to friendly territory, which can be very useful in key battle and war situations. They can also pillage certain areas without losing all their movement points.

Lautaro himself has a special ability called Swift Hawk. This ability allows it so that if an enemy unit is killed within the confines of an enemy city, that city will lose loyalty. And in Civilization VI: Rise And Fall, losing loyalty can lead to a city rebelling against its “owner”.

So, as you can see, the Mapuche people are one well versed in culture as well as combat. Will they be your choice when Civilization VI: Rise And Fall arrives February 8th?
