EA Promises To “Fix” Star Wars Battlefront II

Star Wars Battlefront II is now less than 24 hours away from release, but the “hype” around the game seems to be getting more and more negative. Yesterday, we reported about how it would take over half a year, or $2100, to unlock everything in the game, which made players very angry. Well, EA decided to take the problem on head-on by doing a Reddit AMA with three of its developers. Naturally, players flocked to it to address the issues that are continuing to rise.

Primarily, the talk was about why EA and DICE did certain moves that they did. Such as how the progression system is handled, as well as the much-believed “pay-2-win” system that players truly do hate. This went on for the full AMA, until it finally ended with team member Dennis Brannvall saying how sad he was by all the hate for the game that’s out there right now. But, he did say this:

“We’ve made a really cool, fun and beautiful game but it was overshadowed by issues with the progression system. We will fix this.”

Now, the question is…how will they fix it? They’ve already backpedaled on one feature that was hated, the cost of Hero characters in the game. So, with all of this fan hate for the progression system, is that out the door next? It’s hard to say at present, though it is likely.

The team did note though that they will be working hard to help put progression and fairness back in the hands of players:

“We’re going to continue adjusting the crate systems, content, and progression mechanics to hit a point that gives players a great, balanced experience at all skill levels”, wrote executive producer John Wasilczyk.

Again, we won’t know how much things will change until they actually do. So until then, we must remain skeptical. But, there is hope, and aren’t rebellions built on hope?
