Fortnite Is Now Available In Korea

Video games are a business, it’s not just about making a game, and sometimes it’s not solely about making profit, it’s multi-layered. And one of those layers is making sure that as many players as possible are playing your game. Now, while some games have “worldwide releases”, that doesn’t mean that all games release in all countries at the same time. China is a great example of this. Another is Korea, which is the most recent country to get the hit game Fortnite.

Epic Games’ hit title released in the country today, and included a special patch to ensure that the Korean language was supported. Oh, and they also made a commercial for it.

Well…that was weird, let’s move on. Fortnite launching in Korea is actually a very deal. Korea is one of the major hotspots of gaming, especially when it comes to online multiplayer gaming. Titles like StarCraft II, Overwatch, and more have taken the country by storm, and it’s very possible that Fortnite could do that as well.

This would help add to the already massive numbers the game has. The title has currently 40 million+ players (spread out between Xbox One, PS4, and PC), with over 2 million players playing concurrently at times. If the game explodes in Korea? That could grow massively.

It also helps that Epic Games is constantly updating and upgrading the game. They recently did a massive overlap of the game’s map (where the players play), an upgrade that made each terrain area more detailed, and more realistic in terms of how people would be interacting with it as they went through it.

Plus, they’re constantly coming up with new modes to try out, like a 50v50 mode. And of course, there’s always new weapons in the works. It’s going to be fun to watch and see how Fortnite (potentially) grows in Korea.
