Middle-earth: Shadow of War Side Missions Will Be More In-Depth

The release of Middle-earth: Shadow of War is edging ever closer, and many fans will be looking to see how it managed to improve on the previous game.

In Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, the side content seemed quite flat compared to other games of a similar nature, which didn’t have the care that was taken to missions in the main storyline. This is something that has been acknowledged by Monolith vice president of creative Michael de Plater, who in a recent interview stated the following regarding side content: Side missions were more of a template last time. Now we’ve given them the same sort of attention we’ve given to all our story missions. They all have cinematics.”

He continued to reassure fans that these side missions will have “much stronger stories” and will be based around one of the main side characters in the game. Another major addition will be the ambusher system, which will improve upon the heavily praised Nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor. This, according to de Plater, will see the game “keeping track of what you’re doing moment to moment, and how you’re playing. Your playstyle will determine when a particular enemy or follower appears in the world, in response to your actions.”

Middle-earth: Shadow of War will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 10th, 2017.
