Oh boy, some people are really fighting hard against any form of gambling in the gaming industry, especially in cases like the Netherlands, where game services are being shut down. You see, there were a lot of things going on a couple of years back with gambling sites, especially CS: GO ones, and now the attention is being focused on loot boxes. The Netherlands Gaming Authority banned in-game loot boxes, and it caused the “death” of MU Origin in the Netherlands. This was definitely unexpected, but it means that in-game loot boxes are out of the question in certain countries now.
Well, this is sad, as this basically means that MU Origin is dead as far as the Netherlands players are concerned. That being said, you won’t be able to even search let alone download the game on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. On their official post they said:
We are truly saddened to announce that we will discontinue service of MU Origin in the Netherlands from June 20th on.
Due to the recent decision of The Netherlands Gaming Authority against in-game loot boxes being imposed on June 20th, MU Origin will no longer be able to be searched or downloaded on the Netherlands’ Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Sad news indeed, maybe they could have found a way around this, but the developers decided that it would be best to just discontinue their services in that country.
