PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Hits Top Spot in Korea

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has reached yet another milestone, with the game now being played more than both League of Legends and Overwatch in certain regions, specifically at Korean internet cafes. These statistics come in with PUBG boasting the biggest share of player base, standing at 24.28%, whilst League of Legends follows closely behind at 23.62%, and Overwatch in third at 13.73%.

This is a pretty common practice as far as Korean PC trends go, as competitive video games do tend to hit the top in the early stages of its life cycle. Third place Overwatch did overtake LoL once upon a time, though fell behind once interest and hype began to dip, and it is more than likely that PUBG will do the same thing.

Having said that, this still actually doesn’t take anything away from the immediate and impressive success of PUBG, and it will certainly be interesting to see how long it can hold the top spot. Whether or not it will be able to hold off League of Legends for as long as Overwatch did remains to be seen, though it is still cause for celebration in Korea, the top games haven’t been made in Korea for quite a while now.
