PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Surpasses 3 Million Concurrent Players on Steam

Yet another record has been reached by PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, with tthe game passing three million concurrent players on Steam.

We saw earlier this year that PUBG had managed to topple the player count for the Valve title Dota 2, and has contiuned to go from strength to strength ever since. Back in October, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds passed two million players, and the rise seemingly continues.

Despite seemingly fierce competition from fellow battle royale title Fortnite, which beat PUBG to the punch in terms of a console release, the popularity of the game has managed to keep momentum, aided by becoming part of the Xbox One Preview program.

PUBG released on Steam Early Access back on December 20th, and has been subjected to an update to bring more fixes for the game’s issues. The next year looks to be an extremely exciting year ahead, as more developers look to jump on the bandwagon for the battle royale genre. It seems that many games are looking to take advantage of what has been a meteoric rise in fame for the market, and we are more than likely to see plenty more going forward into the future.

PUBG is now available on PC and Xbox One.
