Power Rangers and Street Fighter Crossing Over In Legacy Wars

Crossovers are nothing new in video games, in fact, they’ve been the basis of many big video games and even franchises. And when a special crossover happens, it’s dubbed a big event. Street Fighter has a long history of doing crossovers with various franchises, including starting the Marvel Vs. Capcom franchise, fighting the Tekken franchise, and even having Ryu in Super Smash Bros. But now, the World Warriors are heading to a new place, Power Rangers: Legacy Wars.

The hit mobile game featuring the Power Rangers has been going strong for a while now, but the teams of nWay, Saban Brands, Lionsgate, and Capcom revealed that this crossover was coming, and that it was going to be very special.

“This incredible Street Fighter and Power Rangers crossover shows how the competitive mobile gaming scene is thriving and attracting massive confidence from legendary videogamecompanies and their passionate fanbases,” said Taehoon Kim, CEO of nWay. “Seeing Street Fighter characters duking it out with Power Rangers is truly new and magical. It’s never been done before and now we are making it happen in Power Rangers: Legacy Wars, proving the rising trend of competitive mobile gaming in the West.”

As for who will be representing the franchise in Legacy Wars, you’ll get to play as Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile, Akuma, Cammy White, and M.Bison. What’s more, and likely is just as impressive, all the character models and abilities of these characters are taken from Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.

“The collaboration between Power Rangers and Street Fighter feels like a dream to me,” said Yoshinori Ono, executive producer at Capcom. “The Rangers series that I also grew up watching as a kid have crossed overseas, became Power Rangers, and is now well received by all ages. I can’t contain my excitement just thinking about the idea of our Street Fighter characters moving about in that world.”

The crossover begins today, with more characters coming over the next few weeks.
