Sly Cooper TV Series Coming In 2019

The PS2 era brought with it many loveable franchises and characters. Jak & Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Kingdom Hearts, etc. But one of the most interesting, and more fan-beloved games of them all was a franchise called Sly Cooper. The series focused itself on a group of anthropomorphic creatures that just so happened to be thieves. They would use their varied skills to steal objects from bad people, and over time, actually save the world, and history. For four games, they made gamers smile. And now, they’re coming back…with a TV show.

Ironically enough, Sly Cooper was supposed to have gotten an animated film. But, that got scrapped, likely due to the failure of the Ratchet and Clank film. The TV was spotted via listing and posted on Resetera.

Sly Cooper follows the adventures of an irresistibly charismatic raccoon, a modern-day Robin Hood, who restores justice to his city one theft at a time,” the team at PGS Entertainment said in the listing. “Mixing humor, action, and a remarkable cast of characters, Sly Cooper promises to be an unforgettable series.”

As a bonus, the team posted an interview with Dev Madan, who helped create the franchise. He noted:

“Sly is one of the most beloved character-based franchises in our portfolio. Generations of gamers are familiar with Sly and his trusty sidekicks, the villains they encounter, and the rich environments in which they live and act. The amazing visuals in the game also made for a smooth transition to the television screen – the show reflects the same visual appeal as did the game in its various neighborhood settings.”

The series itself will follow the example of shows like Teen Titans Go!, which does 11-minute episodes. To that end, the first 26 episodes are set to launch in October of next year, and will be followed up by 26 more episodes.

It sounds like this could be fun. So, are you in?
