Valve Responds To Complaints About Artifact

We gotta admit, Valve is acting pretty quickly, as they have already responded to the various complaints about Artifact.

Artifact

All in all, this is a pretty smart move. If your players get so fired up about a problem within your game, you best address it quickly. Well, a lot of developers don’t do this. That’s why their games die out pretty quickly when the players get fed up with all the nonsense. Now, we just recently talked about the monetization in Artifact. Basically, from the looks of it, there are no ways to earn cards in that game without paying for them with real money in some way.

See, that isn’t really smart for a game that already costs $20. The players agreed on that and they have complained on various subreddits. Miraculously, Valve actually responded with some decent news. Well, they aren’t related to obtaining cards, but at least there will be a mode that allows you to play and practice playing the game, for free.

So, what did Valve do? Well, in the next Artifact beta build, each player that claimed their starting content will get to play the Casual Phantom Draft gauntlet which can be found in the Casual Play section. This isn’t related to the main issue at all, but at least this way you get to play the game you paid $20 for.

In the future players will also be able to turn unwanted cards into event tickets. Drafting with your buddies will also become a possibility with the Call To Arms Phantom Draft option that can be selected in all user-created tournaments. These are good changes, now let’s just hope Valve addresses the other problems as well.
