Video game consoles have lifecycles, just like anything else. No console can last forever, not even with a long list of titles, because eventually, their age will show and gamers will want something new. Last year, Nintendo released the Switch, which showed that console games could be taken on the go and that graphics aren’t everything, and it’s been selling like mad. So now, everyone is waiting on Microsoft and Sony to reveal their next console. Well on the Microsoft side, that could be in the works in terms of a new Xbox.
A post on Microsoft’s website specifically asks for an engineer to help work with the hardware side of things. Aka, consoles. It even says that they’ll be on the Xbox team if they get in. Check out part of the description below:

As if that wasn’t enough proof, this line seems to seal the deal in terms of a new console.
The successful candidate will be the primary technical focal point for existing and leading-edge memory technologies on currently shipping and future Xbox design projects.
Now, yes, they could just be working on a refinement of sorts for the X, but that doesn’t feel right. For as good as the X is, there aren’t many people talking about it, whereas the Switch gets constant attention. Microsoft needs to try and swing things back in their favor and a new console is the way to do it.
