The Steam page of Shadow of Mordor now states that the game is losing all its online features once 2020 comes to an end.

Shadow of War is an incredibly fun game. It’s like the old Assassin’s Creed games but with magic and monsters. Well, similar to the new AC games then. But, it has a defining feature and that is the Nemesis system. Crafted specifically to make the world around you feel more alive. By that, I mean that the important orcs remember when you humiliate them or when they kill you. That way you and the enemies develop a relationship that increases immersion and the enjoyability of facing them again.

There were even Vendetta missions that let you slaughter an orc that killed someone from your Freinds list. Quite a fun feature that brings the theme of revenge to an even higher level, although by a small amount.

Alas, Shadow of Mordor is losing all of its online features once 2020 ends, as is pointed out on the game’s Steam page. The Nemesis Forge is going away, meaning you can’t transfer Nemeses from Shadow of Mordor to the sequel, Shadow of War. Leaderboards are going away, and so is WBPlay. Although the “Orc Hunter” and “Gravewalker” epic runes will be given to all players.

What do you think of this? Is it a huge loss for Shadow of Mordor or something insignificant? Let me know your thoughts on this matter in the comments section down below!

This sucks. Imagine having to play Dark Souls without any hints from strangers. EA takes away online features from their sports games after less then 2 years, so WB hold up their system quite long, compared to EA. Anyhow, loosing features always sucks. Why not make them accessible via Steam servers? The revenge system could certainly be saved like that. And why take out the Nemesis forge? Did that even have to have online connectivity? It should be more like transferring a savegame from Witcher 1 to 2 to 3.

I’m not sure, maybe it’s too much of a hassle for them or something like that
