One of the true thrills of gaming is seeing what a developer does next after making a big hit title. For Yacht Club Games, they have been riding high on the success of Shovel Knight and its spinoffs for years. But now, this year, everything is ending, which means they need to start promoting something else. And that’s exactly what they’re doing with Cyber Shadow, an old-school ninja action game developed by Mechanical Head Games, to which Yacht Club is publishing and handling promotion for.
Here’s a breakdown of the title:
In Cyber Shadow – the newest addition to the Yacht Club Games roster – the world has been taken over by synthetic lifeforms. A desperate plea for help sets Shadow on a journey to uncover what set the world on the path to perpetual ruin. Slash through techno hordes, leap past traps, and nimbly navigate the ruins of Mekacity. Only you can unlock the secrets to your clan’s ancient powers in Cyber Shadow – a quintessential take on the ninja action genre.
If you’re getting feelings of Ninja Gaiden and other such titles, you’re not far off. This is the kind of thing that Yacht Club Games loves to do. They go and make titles, or in this case publish titles, that are a callback to the old days of the NES. And the Yacht Club Team loves what’s going on here:
“It’s a huge honor to work with Aarne Hunziker on Cyber Shadow. We understand more than most what a massive undertaking it is to bring a game you’ve been dreaming about for years into the world. We’re here to help Aarne deliver his vision – taking care of the ‘boring stuff’ so that he can do what he does best!”
The game will get a full unveil during PAX East this weekend.
