NetherRealm Studios Reponds To Mortal Kombat 11 Roster Complaints

There’s an old saying that “you can’t please everyone”, and video games are a great example of that notion. Because no matter how far the developers go to make a game great, there’s always someone who wants to complain about something, big or small. Fighting games have a unique problem with this, as their rosters are very important to their titles. But, sometimes, the games can’t (or won’t) bring all the characters back, and that causes issues with the fans. And this issue is growing with Mortal Kombat 11.

The latest title in the long-standing fighting game series is said to have a roster of about 27 characters (not including DLC). So far, a mix of fan-favorites and fan requests have been shown, as well as a brand new character. But fans are disappointed that a lot of classic characters haven’t been announced yet, and they’re worried they’ll be left out of Mortal Kombat 11 entirely.

On Twitter, it’s getting particularly bad, so, one of the team members from NetherRealm Studios decided to speak out on it:

“Skarlet, Baraka, Kabal, Jade aren’t fan favs,” replied Daanish Syed to a fan who said they were worried that too many fan favorites would be DLC, and thus the game won’t sell well initially. “And there’s more to come! As MK Reddit demonstrates, you cant please everybody. 30 yrs of history, no matter who we include, you can ALWAYS say “What about so-and-so”. You may not like every choice, but overall I think you’ll be happy.”

He later clarified something he noted on the MK Reddit in regards to the roster:

“To be clear, my Reddit comment was not meant negatively, I was simply using it to illustrate that there are a wide variety of tastes out there, and everybody has their own wish-list. I did not mean to invalidate anybody’s opinion!”

After all they’ve done, I think we owe it to NetherRealm Studios to give them a chance to show off the full roster before passing judgment. The game releases on April 13th.
