Rainbow Six Siege not Possible For Nintendo Switch

When it comes to titles that have lasted quite a lot longer than expected, Rainbow Six Siege is definitely up there, especially for Ubisoft. True, the game only came out in 2015, but the player base for the title has been growing ever since, allowing Ubisoft to do massive seasonal events and keep gamers entertained. With all its success, many have wondered if the Nintendo Switch would be next in line to get the game. But according to Ubisoft, this isn’t likely to happen.

Rainbow Six Siege brand director Alexandre Remy talked to Metro recently and noted:

‘‘[It’s] not possible with the technical constraint and especially the frame rate of the game; 60 frames per second plus destruction is a bit CPU heavy and Switch is not yet the Nintendo console where it’ll be.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that the Switch is a bit underpowered, and to be fair, Siege does put a lot of strain as noted by Remy.

That being said, Ubisoft is determined to continue growing the fanbase of Siege, which might mean bringing is to future consoles should time allow:

‘But overall it’s true Rainbow Six is very much a game where we just want to expand the player base, because the more player’s we do have the better the whole game and services. So if at one point that is a possibility that we have new platforms or new hardware, we’ll likely get there. That said, we have been having in the past year a huge focus on PC, not only on esports but also on the development side of things, so that’s where we believe the growth is going to be the fastest and the strongest.’

So, where will the game go next? Guess we’ll have to wait and see what Microsoft and Sony have up their sleeves.
