Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition Gets Arcade Mode Detailed

The launch of Street Fighter V is one that many video game developers should be wary of. For on one hand, people praised the refined battle system of the game, and praised the new moves and features of said system. Furthermore, the game looked good, a major step up from Street Fighter IV. However, it came at a cost, for many people criticized the lack of options in regards to game modes. There wasn’t a Story Mode (though that was added later), there weren’t options to fight the CPU (though that was added later), and most importantly, there wasn’t an arcade mode.

So, Capcom went back on its word to not do a “Super” version of the game, and revealed that Super Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition would be coming on January 16th, 2018. And this one would be highlighted by the arrival of Arcade Mode. And, on the Capcom forums, the team detailed what this mode will bring.

First up, the mode will have six different “paths” for you to choose from. This marks all the main games in the series. Mainly: Street Fighter, Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter III, Street Fighter IV, and Street Fighter V. And for each one you do, you can get a different ending. What’s more, you can select how many people to fight, the difficulty of the rounds, and more.

An interesting twist though is that these paths will have restrictions based on the path you take. So, for the Street Fighter III path, you can only choose Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Akuma, Laura, Urien, Alex, Kolin, and Ibuki, as they were in that game. Also, you can choose your next opponent after completing a match, allowing you freedom on your path.

But, the true joy might just be that there are a staggering 200 endings in the Arcade Mode. As Capcom notes, some are just simple “completion” endings, while others reflect how well you did on your path. That’s a lot of endings, and each are going to have illustrations attached to them. So try and get them all!
