WoW: War of Thorns Was Supposed To Be Drastic

The pre-expansion event that set the stage for Battle for Azeroth was quite shocking to the players. But, was that how it was supposed to be? It appears that everything went as planned, as Alex Afrasiabi, the creative director, explained in an interview.

The storytelling in WoW has always been quite, well, hit or miss. Blizzard doesn’t always know what their fans what to see. Especially when it came to War of Thorns, the reception of that event was quite negative. No one wanted to see a genocide in their favorite MMORPG, but exactly that happened when Sylvanas burned down the World Tree Teldrassil.

In an interview with ScienceAlert.com, Blizzard wanted the fans to know that they need to be patient. As always, we don’t always know how this story will further unfold when Battle for Azeroth arrives. The expansion is almost here, so we will get to see how this war will go. The intense emotions that the fans felt were planned by Blizzard, as they wanted the fans to feel something. Sometimes that something isn’t happiness, but the anger won’t last long as well. As they said in their interview, we need to be patient, as the story will progress in ways that we can’t expect.

The developers always want to make their fans happy, and now that Blizzard knows how angry the players were after the War of Thorns, we are pretty sure that they are going to make up for it when Battle for Azeroth comes.
